EXECUTIVE - CHAIRMAN AND PRESIDENT

Marc's vision to create a sustainable funding solution for development led to the establishment of the Carbon Fund, which finances sustainable projects through Compliance Carbon Markets.

A passionate entrepreneur with expertise in finance, technology, and carbon markets, Marc has successfully built multiple startups over the past 25 years. He is a two-time Forbes Best in Financial Services award winner. Marc holds a B.Com degree in accounts and economics and interned at Accenture, where he gained experience in large-scale IT system design and development.

Marc is recognized for his leadership, innovation, and impact in financial services.

Morkel Steyn

EXECUTIVE - CHIEF FINANCIAL AND RISK OFFICER

Morkel has played a pivotal role in shaping the Carbon Fund into a bankable and investable proposition for funders.

With a commercial degree in banking, Morkel has built a distinguished career as a financial analyst known for his meticulous approach. His transition to the Carbon Fund was a natural evolution following his extensive experience in banking. Under Morkel's stewardship, risk management remains at the core of the Carbon Fund’s strategy, ensuring careful market, client, and project selection.

Chris Hart

NON-EXECUTIVE - ECONOMIST

With over 20 years of experience, Chris has held senior roles, including Senior Financial Economist at Absa Capital and Chief Strategist at Investment Solutions. He also served as Global Market Strategist at Standard Bank Wealth and Investment before founding Impact Investment Africa.

A recognized expert in financial and economic issues, Chris is a sought-after speaker. His dedication to grassroots economic empowerment ensures the Carbon Fund makes a tangible impact by uplifting income levels and fostering sustainable development.

Frederic Dupouy

NON-EXECUTIVE - FUNDING

Frederic is a seasoned investment professional with extensive experience in multinational corporations and infrastructure mega projects. Having worked with the Oppenheimer family, he brings invaluable expertise in financial structuring.

Holding an MBA from London Business School and an MSc in Engineering from Arts & Metiers Paris Tech, Frederic is fluent in English, Spanish, and French. Under his leadership, the Carbon Fund strategically sources funding—equity, debt, or hybrid—at optimal moments to maximize shareholder value while prioritizing community upliftment.

Brian Black

NON-EXECUTIVE - COMPLIANCE

Brian has a wealth of experience across multiple sectors, including retail management, real estate, financial services, business consulting, property development, IT, and software innovation. Brain's personal passion to make a difference aligns with the mission of the Carbon Fund to fund Sustainable Development.

Given the Carbon Fund’s operations in the Compliance Carbon Market, Brian ensures compliance with regulatory frameworks (like Carbon Tax Acts or CBAM), reinforcing the fund’s credibility and integrity with regard to the principles, methods, policies and standards we must comply with to issue high integrity and quality Carbon Credits.

Terrence Trichardt

MANAGING DIRECTOR - CARBON HUB

With extensive experience in sourcing senior debt funding for major renewable energy projects, including Solar PV, Terrence has developed a profound understanding of the Carbon Markets.

Terrence leads the Carbon Hub team in South Africa. The Carbon Hub manages the supply-side of the Carbon Fund: managing markets, client acquisition, project development, and ISO 14064 auditing to ensure the Carbon Fund is in a position to issue and sell high-quality Carbon Credits. His expertise in renewable energy, the Carbon Markets, and B2B sales, provides the Carbon Fund’s board with invaluable insights of the market, the clients, the projects and the communities we ultimately want to target for Sustainable Development funding.
